New State-of-the-Art Christchurch Faciity Announced
Vodafone’s announcement to build its new Christchurch offices in the city’s Innovation Precinct has received positive coverage across national media.
25/04/2015 - Christchurch - The story behind the story is that this is a Calder Stewart project arranged through our Development team based in Christchurch. Vodafone wanted to relocate its Christchurch operations to a landmark building located in the heart of the new Christchurch Innovation Precinct. They selected Jasmax Architects to design the building, and they created a striking concept comprising an L-shaped four-level building wrapped around a community courtyard.
Whilst the media paid close attention to the 4 storey high media screen, Calder Stewart and its design team were working overtime to turn the concept into reality: “The project hinged on Calder Stewart’s ability to acquire the site and deliver the building on terms acceptable to both parties”, says Joint Managing Director ALAN STEWART. This required some delicate negotiations with numerous interested parties, including CERA which now owned the land. “Assembling these complex deals is a speciality of Calder Stewart Development; a skill we take for granted but which comes from years of experience”, adds Alan.
Having secured the land and entered into a long-term lease with Vodafone, Calder Stewart then brought in other investors to share in the project cost. “It is testament to the quality of this development that we were able to secure the required investment from a single investor”, says Alan.
The project was officially announced to the public by Vodafone’s CEO Russell Stanners at a full media launch attended by five senior MPs and Christchurch Mayor Lianne Dalziel. Mr Stanners said he expects the development will be the most advanced working environment in New Zealand; fully mobile, cloud and video aware, delivering new levels of productivity and convenience for Vodafone’s employees, customers and partners.
Vodafone expects to be able to occupy the building in early 2016.
