Sleepyhead was looking for a Design Build solution to their two damaged factories, housing their manufacturing operations under one roof.
After the Christchurch earthquakes, Sleepyhead required a new manufacturing facility to replace their two damaged factories. With this in mind, Sleepyhead was after a modern build that would combine the output of the two damaged sites and adhere to new earthquake codes.
We provided a Design Build solution for Sleepyhead on land immediately available from our Hornby Quadrant development initiative. Working this way also allowed us to couple the early planning stage with our robust construction resources. This included our single-source capabilities, which allowed Sleepyhead to turn past adversity into future advantage.
Meeting the project's delivery date under a tight schedule was primarily achieved through the construction team's commitment. Our single-source approach to precast concrete and steel supplied in-house allowed us to cut timelines and leave room for unexpected delays.
The completed project was a success, engineered to the newest earthquake standards, with additional cross-bracing of the project's steel frame and curing chambers. Sleepyhead is now enjoying having its manufacturing facilities operate under one purpose-built roof.
