This sizable distribution centre, with a total area of 10,800m², is a warehouse, drive-thru and modern office to client OfficeMax.
Our property team had the opportunity to develop an end-to-end solution for OfficeMax to service their new South Island distribution centre. The site uses Calder Stewart's land, located in the iZone Business Park, Rolleston, with the build process handled by our construction team. At almost twice the size of its former centre, the new facility holds more stock in one single location while directly receiving inbound containers.
We handled the Design Build process, which called for a thoroughly energy-efficient design with low-level power functionality. The finished structure comprises a 9,000m² warehouse, a 1,600m² drive-thru canopy section, and a modern 200m² office, and the structure consists of construction materials sourced from our supply chain.
The project was delivered under budget and on time, despite setbacks incurred by the Covid lockdown. This project was the first undertaken for client OfficeMax and was well-received overall. The building is now fully operational, supporting OfficeMax's exclusive online business operations.
