Redpaths has grown and developed into a leading supplier of wholesale electrical products across the South Island. It prides itself in providing exceptional customer service, a complete range of readily accessible stock and a forward-thinking, customer-centred business approach. As the business was expanding, the Christchurch team decided to open a new, spacious premise in Invercargill and, of course, turned to us for a unique Design Build solution.
The project was developed for land Redpaths' had just acquired on Bill Richardson Drive. The new location was better able to support their long term needs, with more parking space for their growing fleet of service vehicles and customers.
Here, we were tasked with translating Redpaths' practical operational needs into a final design, following a classic scheme that we've used previously for small to mid-sized projects. The plan included precast concrete panels, seamlessly integrated with a steel frame. The combined materials resulted in superior strength, structure, and a fast build time.
Redpaths' also required a split between a 300m² inventory section at the back and a 400m² retail section at the front, with staff offices and an extended retail counter. We were entrusted with all aspects of the design, including conforming to the client's branded colour scheme and making sure to feature Redpaths' prominent tagline signage throughout.
Although strictly a precast concrete box, alucobond detailing was added to some street-facing architectural flair, a speciality in our Design Build solutions. The final look and feel of the project successfully reflect the company's identity in a new, practical and spacious setting.
