Our property team project recommended a complete Design Build solution for this project, with high tolerance concrete floors across the office and warehouse.
Although most Kiwis won't recognise the name Dunninghams, the company are well-renowned within the sausage business. As a butchery supplier, Dunninghams has been around for nearly 100 years, keeping pace with the changing needs in the meat industry. Today, Dunninghams dispatches anything a butcher might need from several distribution centres located around the country.
Dunninghams contacted our property team first, as they were looking for a premium parcel of land in Christchurch to relocate their South Island operations. We ended up offering them more than just land — we covered a complete Design Build package. This package included a warehouse, designed to a high specification, with extra floor space to accommodate growth and a front office section.
We sourced much of the building material from our various building supply units, including steel reinforcing, precast concrete panels and structural steel. A unique challenge was the need for high-tolerance, perfectly flat concrete floors to support their automated forklift system.
Taking around 20 weeks to completion, Dunninghams now has a new strategic location for operations in the South, immediately adjacent to key transport links.
