This Design Build offers 1,640m² of warehouse spacing, with nine workshop bays equipped with roller doors and multiple rigs. Also included is a single-level 200m office space.
Historically speaking, many Calder Stewart construction projects have come through the door by ‘word of mouth’ recommendations or by ‘jobs well done’, in the case of repeat business clients. However, often our team goes ‘out and about’ to land a new contract, offering businesses new custom-tailored premises within the scope of a flexible Design Build programme.
Such was the case in Ashburton, with our team having heard that a local business was looking for a new facility. Lusk Engineering had earned a reputation as a leading engineering supplier to the truck trailer-rig market, and word had it that they were looking to streamline and modernise operations with a brand-new fit-for-purpose facility.
Our team entered the picture after another builder had already priced the job. However, we were able to submit better numbers, thanks to our vast in-house knowledge and 60 plus years of experience.
This Design Build solution proceeded without a hitch, a big step forward for our client. The new facility we offered was large enough to meet growing requirements; the 72m long and 20m wide workshop featured nine individual workspace bays with large roller doors, all suitable for parallel engineering work on multiple rigs. We also equipped the space with two 5-tonne gantry cranes to traverse all work areas efficiently. The single-level 200m office at the front topped out the project and was handed over to the client to design their fit-out.
