Community commissioned, this 3,700m² multi-purpose facility offers large sports court spacing, locker rooms, administrative officers, a meeting centre and a kitchen.
The Clutha district was considering the construction of a multi-purpose community recreational centre, focusing on sports and fitness. Thanks to funding from various community trusts, and input from regional sports groups, an overall plan was drafted.
We provided a customised Design Build solution to meet the programme whilst controlling the costs. The design called for ample, multi-court floor space to accommodate netball. An adjacent, two-level area for locker rooms was also included, along with administrative offices, a dedicated meeting centre and an adjoining kitchen.
The construction site for this project was located on unusual terrain, calling for a ramp entrance and direct access to an adjacent field, used to support rugby and other field activities.
The complex itself features a unique court design, treated with Dynapoint rubber and polyurethane surfacing to support practice sessions of the region’s professional netball teams, including Southern Steel.
