This massive 54,000m² dry store for Fonterra includes streamlined design elements, such as the 7m high rapid-rise doors.
When New Zealand’s largest dairy exporter Fonterra planned to expand its milk powder storage capacity to service the growing international export markets, we submitted a Design Build solution for their proposed dry store project. Completed in two phases over a short 14 months, the warehouse notably features 14m wide and 7m high rapid-rise doors, which streamline the handling of the plant’s annual production of dry milk products.
The technical aspects of this project included the delivery of a massive cargo of steel to the construction site, which needed to happen every week, like clockwork. By maintaining a constant pace and planning out the project well ahead of schedule, we made good use of our time to meet deadlines as they came in.
The 54,000m2 warehouse facility represents the South Island’s largest building and a flagship construction project for us, confirming our place in a select group of construction firms able to undertake such large scale projects.
