This 3,300m² commercial office in the heart of Christchurch’s CBD makes extensive use of marble and granite finishes, as well as aluminium composite panel cladding.
Designed by Christchurch architects Sheppard and Rout, these upscale commercial offices in Christchurch’s CBD include extensive marble, granite finishes and aluminium composite panel cladding. The finished product also exhibits a unique patina and singular architectural character.
Our role was in the construction stages of the build, with the project presenting its opportunities and challenges. The building uses 24-metre deep screw piles and implements new technology — Precast Seismic Structural System (PRESSS) — that meet Importance Level 3 (IL3) building requirements.
Traffic management presented the most trouble during the build process since the small footprint construction site sat adjacent to a high-traffic footpath area and a parallel tram route. Luckily, due to careful planning and sensible health and safety regulations, any on-site disturbance was kept to a minimum.
