Utilising a strategic Calder Stewart site, this 700m² combined petrol station and restaurant added to the expansion of Z Energy’s Christchurch presence.
Leading national petrol brand Z Energy was undergoing an ambitious expansion programme in the Christchurch market when we were approached for this project. Before engaging with the construction, they first turned to our property team for a new strategically placed site, taken from our land portfolio. The submitted design they gave us would combine the petrol station and an adjacent Burger King restaurant, fulfilling our agreed construction mandate.
Situated at the corner of Waterloo Road and State Highway 1, the site meets all the client's requirements, with an eight pump canopied filling facility and a nearby Z20 car wash. The complete 3,000m2 site was designed with the retail needs of both Z Energy and Burger King in mind, supporting parking for its clientele.
Poor ground conditions were discovered on the construction site, which resulted in large amounts of unsuitable material needing to be removed from the site, with new material brought in to serve in replacement. Despite this unexpected delay, we didn’t disappoint and delivered Z Energy’s latest petrol station and adjacent restaurant on schedule.
