As a property-led development project for Bascik Transport, this 5,500m² design comprises both warehouse and standalone office administration.
This property-led development project for long-standing client Bascik Transport was delivered around the client’s unique financial and long term business goals. However, built on Calder Stewart owned land in the Sockburn section of Christchurch, the size and shape of the parcel of land on which this project was built presented some unique challenges.
Of particular note was the elongated footprint of the warehouse section and the standalone nature of the administrative office block. Both design aspects resulted from the size and shape of the construction site itself. Finished with a distinctive bright red cladding that reflects the Bascik brand, the final layout of the facility was thoroughly fit-for-purpose, conforming to the client’s need to support an efficient freight handling workflow.
The warehouse section was specified with high ceilings to support full-height racking and designed with ample additional space to support expansion. The two-level street-facing administration block at the front of the facility provides 250m2 of office space and displays a striking architectural character. Like many property projects undertaken by Calder Stewart, all structural steel, reinforced steel and precast concrete panels used on the project came from Calder Stewart’s group of companies.
