DHL are an international courier, package delivery and express mail service, distributing across New Zealand. They were considering new locations in Canterbury for a central warehouse and distribution centre. Our property team reached out to recommend Izone Rolleston, as it balanced all the client's needs, including access to DHL's customers, major arterial routes and primary transport links around Christchurch. DHL's current site was sourced from our property portfolio, and construction began immediately.

A tight turnaround for this project was required, with 28 weeks to complete construction. The design specifications were specific, based on the same layout DHL had used in its overseas facilities. Once again, Calder Stewart delivered on a Design Build solution on time, with contractual terms allowing the client to move in before full site completion.

The construction of the freight and logistics centre was reasonably complex, with premises covering an area of 7,000m2. Work included fit-outs, site works, and the erection of retaining walls on three of the site's boundaries. A large canopy flanks the warehouse, and a two-level office sits strategically at a key corner of the facility. The installation of a sprinkler system and a specialty cold store was also part of the build.

DHL is an exemplary project for Calder Stewart, showcasing how it can translate a client's fine-tuned standards and requirements into a practical finished result. Now situated in Rolleston, DHL enjoys direct access to key transport hubs.

"As such, this is an exemplary project for Calder Stewart, showcasing how it can translate a client's fine-tuned international standards & requirements into a practical finished project."
